San Mateo Masonic Lodge (100 N. Ellsworth, @ Tilton)

Doors open 7:30, Dancing 8:00 to a bit after 11:00.

Advance price $15, Door price $20, $2 discounts for GBACG and BACDS members.

It's 1820, and noted writer Washington Irving is back from England, and has just - in 1820 - published "The Sketchbook of Geoffrey Crayon", a collection which includes stories destined to be classics: "Rip van Winkle" and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow."  You're invited to a ball to honor him and his work.

Our able and extremely literate dancing master Alan Winston will lead us in lively country dances, cotillions, and waltzes.  The Divertimento Dance Orchestra will provide live music.  No prior experience required, and you needn't bring a partner.  Wear festive modern dress, or Regency/Elizabethan/Victorian, or costumes from the stories.

We must receive advance subscriptions by Friday, October 8th.
